Job Details
Duties
Your duties might include:
• The preparation of lab glassware and plasticware following standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Preparation and handling of a super acid and other chemicals
• The manufacture of buffers following standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Accurate completion of records following the principles of good document practice
• Completion of trend analysis data
• Stock control of buffers
• Assist with company stock takes to support KanBan processes and ensure consumables are readily available for the team
• Responsibility for specific departmental items of equipment. (maintenance, calibration, cleaning) ensuring lab compliance of equipment at all times
• Maintenance of generic equipment components
• Laboratory Housekeeping

Skills
You will also need good organisation skills and some knowledge of Microsoft packages. If you are offered the role you'll be partnered with an Apprenticeship Advisor who'll be there to support and guide you throughout your apprenticeship. Working with your line manager to identify the right opportunities to help you succeed.
Qualifications
As a Laboratory Technician apprentice you'll be required to have a BTEC L3 Extended Diploma (PPP), BTEC L3 90-Credit Diploma (MM), A Level (DD) or Access to HE Diploma. Alternative experience and qualifications may be considered.

ALS eligibility
Please note that ALS our training providers have their own eligibility in order to provide the funding required to undertake an apprenticeship. You may not be eligible to apply if:
- you already hold a qualification at Level 3 or above in ICT, Software, Web and Telecoms or a similar subject
- you already hold a qualification at Level 3 or above in Business Administration, Customer Service or a similar subject
What are the benefits?
How much will I be paid?
You will earn £19,240 a year while training. When you pass your apprenticeship you can apply for a permanent job at the Welsh Government. Within 2 years of starting your apprenticeship you could be earning £22,500.
You will get 31 days holidays as well as 10 public and privilege days. We offer flexible working arrangements to help you get the right work/life balance. You will also be eligible for membership of the Civil Service Pension Scheme
