GMMH - Maintenance Electrician

Job Title and Grade: Maintenance Electrician - EMWD00 Band 4

Location/Trust: Prestwich - Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH)

The Role:

Are you an experienced Electrician who would like to be part of the Quality Improvement team, working for one of the UK's most respected NHS Mental Health Foundation Trusts?

  • The position of maintenance electrician will be based at the Prestwich site with a percentage of the time spent supporting GMW buildings on the site and locations within Bolton, Central Lancashire, Cumbria, Salford and Trafford. This may change depending on the needs of the service.
  • Work will be notified via an electronic medium iPad or iPhone and the successful candidate will start each working day from their home base and plan their daily tasks throughoutthe Trust's estate.
  • Proactive in providing electrical engineering skills covering planned, reactive and emergency maintenance of electrical systems. Providing support within the maintenance team in the day-to-day provision of maintenance services ensuring that it fulfils its function effectively, economically and efficiently within legislation and guidance standards. Responsible for the diagnosis and repair of faults on a wide range of plant and equipment covering LV electrical systems, electrical distribution, lighting, fire detection, building management control systems, standby generator plant, security access control systems, intruder alarm systems, CCTV equipment, nurse call systems and staff attack systems

Co-ordinating and monitor the work of contractors appointed to undertake maintenance, cleaning and waste management.

Pay Rates

Days = £11.53 - Nights & Saturdays = £14.99 - Sundays & Bank Holidays = £18.45


Monday - Friday, 07:30-16:00

Essential Criteria

The post holder will hold knowledge in:

  • Experienced in the workings and operation of gas fired boiler plant, including all services within a boiler house environment, controls, pumps and motors.
  • Knowledgeable in heating distribution systems, hot and cold water systems.
  • BTEC level, NVQ Level 3 or City and Guilds
  • Electrical certification to 17 Edition
  • PAT Testing qualified
  • IPAF License
  • Time served tradesman in building or engineering and with basic skills in other trades.
