This 12 month placement, based in Livingston, West Lothian has strong potential to transition to a permanent role.

Project Description

Our silicon wafer manufacturing business, which supplies key materials to the global semiconductor industry, is looking to hire a talented graduate to work on a vital business improvement project.

Specifically, you will use your skills, knowledge and creativity to play a pivotal role within the Process Engineering team with the focus being on identifying and implementing productivity improvements, manufacturing cost reductions and process risk elimination.

Placement Objectives

You will provide our business with graduate skills to help deliver improvements and efficiencies to a core part of our business.

Role Description

Process/Systems Improvement:
  • Collect, analyse and interpret performance data to inform improvement and/or development plans
  • Interrogate the processes via experimental design to confirm direction of improvement and/or development
  • Co-ordinate process change in line with plant quality systems
  • Build and maintain up to date technical knowledge of the relevant industry direction


New process/system design and implementation:

  • Identify, propose and implement process, system and/or equipment designs to improve the relevant operations in respect of Quality, Cost, Productivity and Safety
  • Conduct market research to gain insight and assist with the design of future products


Education and Training:

  • Identify training needs and look at opportunities for employee development in conjunction with CPD requirements


Reporting:

  • Prepare written technical reports in line with departmental quality system needs
  • Make technical improvement presentations to relevant groups


Qualifications
A degree in engineering/manufacturing related discipline would be ideal for this placement.

  • Appreciation and basic knowledge of Process Induction, Cleanroom Protocol and process Plant equipment
  • Outstanding IT skills, covering all MS packages
  • Well established analytical skills

Desirable Skills
  • Risk assessment experience/knowledge
