About us:

Cosmic People are a DSA-QAG accredited provider of NMH support; supporting students with disabilities in higher education. We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Academic Support Worker based on a university campus providing electronic note taking and/or manual note taking to students with disabilities.

Cosmic People are an 'Investors in People' accredited company, who pride ourselves in providing excellent NMH (Non-Medical Helper) support to students with disabilities in Higher Education.

About the role:

As an academic support worker, you will be based on a vibrant university campus attending lectures on a variety of subjects, producing written or typed lecture notes for students and working alongside them assisting with other elements of their academic support including:-

* Note Taking

* Library Assistance

* Practical Support

* Study Assistance

* Workshop/ Laboratory support

The role is term time only, part time and provides regular weekly hours.

This role will suit someone looking for part time work during term time and we require a minimum of two full day's availability per week.

The role will start ASAP.

Training and on-going support are provided: Cosmic People are a CPD accredited company and you will have the opportunity to achieve CPD accreditation in a variety of training areas relevant to your role.

The successful applicant will be:

* A recent graduate, a graduate or post-graduate.

* Have the ability to type or write fast and accurately under pressure.

* Be able to recognise and capture the main points of a lecture and write them succinctly and simultaneously whilst listening to the speaker.

* Be reliable, punctual and resilient.

* Be able to work flexibly.

* Have excellent interpersonal skills, diplomacy and empathy to others.

* Be able to work on your own autonomy and use your initiative.

* Have a good knowledge of English to include good spelling and grammar.

* Have a genuine desire to make a difference and help others.

* Live within easy access of Birmingham and Wolverhampton

* Hold an enhanced DBS certificate or be willing to apply for one.

(Please note this role does require you to have an enhanced DBS)

Salary:

The salary is GBP9.00 per hour PAYE for Manual note taking (handwritten notes)

The salary is GBP11.00 per hour for Electronic note taking (typed notes. Own laptop required).

Hours:

Term time and flexible.
