GRADUATE DEVICE AND TEST ENGINEER (SEMICONDUCTORS / III-V)

BASED GLASGOW - GBP22-25,000 SALARY AND BENEFITS PACKAGE

Headquartered near Glasgow, ESS Holdings' client is an independent manufacturer of III-V photonic devices who provide custom foundry services in InP, GaAs, GaN and GaSb on 2", 3" and 4" wafers, and have ongoing, active research and development programmes in various technology areas. They also develop and manufacture custom and standard InP laser products for the FTTx (Fibre to the Home / Premises / Building) and PON (Passive Optical Network) markets.

Undergoing an extensive production and people ramp up right now, they need to make the key hire of a Graduate Device and Test Engineer.

Reporting into the R+D Programme Manager, the Graduate Device and Test Engineer will play a key role helping coordinate, review and present device test results and data from operations back to the R+D engineering team. You will ultimately move into the analysis of new devices and develop improved test programmes to enhance the knowledge of device behaviours. Other key responsibilities will include:

First-point contact for production troubleshooting - to analyse issues observed in production line and liaise with engineering and process engineers to develop and implement solutions.
Highlighting of bottlenecks in device development and suggesting improvement solutions for implementation.
Organisation of schedule and priority of capacity in line with commercial requirements.
Responsible for co-ordinating the build and delivery of test samples between the operations and engineering teams from end of fabrication through to device testing; characterisation and reliability.
First level data sorting and preparation for design analysis.
Responsible for ensuring testing equipment is capable and available to engineering team in line with the project requirements.
Ensure integrity of test and sample data.
You are educated to degree calibre in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Physics, maths or perhaps Materials Science. This role will suit candidates who have a genuine interest in semiconductor material or processing or optoelectronics/III-V materials. You are highly numerate and analytical, with good experience of managing and transforming large data sets in software packages like Matlab or Labview.

We would be especially keen to hear from candidates with any relevant lab or work experience in semiconductors, optoelectronics or electronics where product test and data analysis was part of the job.
