Job Description:
We are looking for a highly motivated apprentice who is interested in helping with the on-going performance, regulatory and data analysis for fixed income bond investments.
The successful applicant will support a team of 14 credit analysts by taking an active role in data / regulatory analysis, project work and interfacing with various business units.
The apprentice will also have an opportunity to learn more about the financial markets and instruments.
The Asset Backed Securitisation (“ABS”) team is one of 3 fixed income research teams and has the responsibility of monitoring and analysing a portfolio of approx. £25Bn across all sectors for our portfolio manager stakeholders across both public and private asset markets.
Your daily duties may include:
- Maintenance of ABS data through use of internal systems and excel. This will include setting up financial instruments to trade projecting cashflows etc.
- Producing periodic ABS holdings reports
- Helping senior analysts analyse datasets to help project future performance trends
- Assisting senior analysts to produce deal overviews in Microsoft Word
- Helping senior analysts complete in-house ESG scorecards for transactions
- Supporting senior analysts with deals, reviews and monitoring of investments mainly using Microsoft excel
- Helping the team with scheduling of the work and gathering of business requirements
- Helping the team in answering queries on data and outputs
- Providing ad hoc support to wider team as and when required
- You will also get exposure to a number of different projects and initiatives within the team, and the opportunity to gain experience and knowledge across the different ABS sectors (for example, Residential Mortgage Backed Securities, Consumer, Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities & Collateralised Loan Obligations)
Training Provided:
As a Junior Investment Analyst Apprentice with BPP, you will undertake the level 4 Investment Operations Specialist Apprenticeship. The apprenticeship will be delivered through a blend of live online learning, pre-recorded lectures, and face to face inductions and masterclasses
Qualification Requirements:
As a minimum, candidate will have 3 A levels with at least a grade B in Maths and English GCSE.
Alternatively, you will have at least 2 years of work experience in financial services industry.

- Good and confident communication skills, both written and verbal
- High level of accuracy and good attention to detail
- Structured approach to work and very well organised
- Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
- Moderate understanding of the MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong numerical skills
- A proactive team player who is confident about working with others but also independently and can promptly escalate any issue and work remotely where required
- Logical and analytical approach coupled with intelligence, passion and a drive to learn
- Ability to formulate own opinions by thinking analytically about problems
- Empathy and good listening skills

Future Prospects:
This is a fixed term contract for 18 months upon which the business may decide to retain, subject to the Apprentice performance, headcount and available funding. If recruited into a permanent role, the individual will follow the career progression applicable to the specific role/department.
