Job Description:

The Trustee business sits within the Private Assets business of M&G Investments and acts in different capital markets issuances (of loans and financial instrument) to represent the interest of the investors or the relevant lenders. This activity involves different products (security and bond trustee, escrow, facility agreements, social housing transactions) depending on the underlying structure.

When we get appointed for a new transaction, a professional within the team, the transaction manager, will finalise the quote and review the terms and documents of the transaction to ensure that they comply with the internal requirements, that we can perform the relevant activities and that the transaction is correctly billed and set up in our systems. This process will also involve the collection of the documents of the client (passport, proof of residence, corporate structure etc) to be provided to the compliance team at M&G to ensure the screening of the client and ensure according to the internal “know your customer” requirements, to comply with the applicable anti-money laundering regulation.

The Transaction Coordinator will assist the relevant transaction managers within the team in the performance of all the activities required to correctly “onboard” the transaction and the client and set up the deal in the system.

Your daily activities may include assisting the transaction managers to:

  • Maintain an updated and complete list of templates for fee letters and template agreements
  • Send the correct template to the client
  • Finalise the fee letter in accordance with the Trustee template letter with the information provided by the transaction manager and get it signed by the client
  • New transaction set up & processing (data entry, system setup)
  • Liaise with banking team to open bank accounts where accounts are required
  • Track status of requested/required documents and ensure smooth and efficient progression across the different stages (e.g mandate, know your customer, document review, signed and billed)
  • Act as point of contact between the client and the internal compliance team to collect the “know your customer” documentation required to ensure that all the required anti money laundering documentation are performed. Obtain sign off from the compliance team before the relevant documents get signed
  • Following up on all outstanding issues
  • Coordinate signing of the documents and relevant archiving in the Trustee system
  • Ensure correct filing of all emails relating to a transaction in the relevant folder
  • Report internally on number of deals at each stage and follow up on quotes to confirm mandates
  • Set up the deal in the Trustee system with the relevant requirements
  • Complete an “handover form” with all the relevant information for the transaction for the day-to-day management of the deal
  • Providing ad hoc admin support to wider team as and when required.

Training Provided:

As a Business Administration Apprentice with BPP, you will undertake the Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship. The apprenticeship will be delivered through a blend of live online learning, pre-recorded lectures, and face to face inductions and masterclasses

Qualification Requirements:

As a minimum, candidate will have either 5 GCSEs with Maths and English grades 4+ or 2 A levels with good grades in Maths and English (A-C). Alternatively, you will have 2 years of work experience in financial services industry

Personal Qualities & Skills:

  • Confident communication skills, both written and verbal with the whole team and stakeholders both internal and external.
  • Capacity to deal with client and offer high level of customer service even with tight deadlines (previous experiences in customer facing roles are a plus but not essential).
  • Efficient and proactive. Ability to manage processes and coordinating with different people.
  • High level of accuracy and good attention to detail.
  • Structured approach to work and very well organised. Works well off of checklists & time blocking/time management.
  • Can effectively manage day to day work, alongside apprenticeship qualification.
  • Moderate understanding of the MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • A proactive team player who is confident about working with others but also independently and can promptly escalate any issue and work remotely where required.
  • Logical and analytical approach coupled with intelligence, passion and a drive to learn.
  • Ability to formulate own opinions by thinking analytically about problems, thinking “outside the box” to resolve issues where required.
  • Empathy and good listening skills.

Future Prospects:

This is a fixed term contract for 15 months upon which the business may decide to retain, subject to the Apprentice performance, headcount and available funding. If recruited into a permanent role, the individual will follow the career progression applicable to the specific role/department.
