Following the huge success of our previous Degree Apprenticeship programme, we’re seeking to develop another group of digital geniuses who want to develop their career with our incredible technology team and be part of something truly special.  We’re offering you the chance to combine working with studying towards a degree.  And the best part is, not only will you be earning a great salary, we’ll will pay for your education too!  Sounds too good to be true doesn’t it?  

So here’s how it works

You’ll split your time between working within Digital & Innovation and studying for a Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Technology Solutions over 30 months.  You’ll receive invaluable on-the job experience as you work across a number of Digital, Cyber Security, IT Operations IT & Change projects, learning what it takes to run the bank, the innovation required to help us grow as a digital bank.  All this whilst working alongside our super talented technology colleagues that will coach and mentor you on your journey.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

- Develop an understanding of Virgin Money business functions and the key activities they deliver to support the successful day to day running of the Bank.
- Become proficient in Digital technologies, systems and processes and present ideas for system improvements.
- Help to contribute to the production of the relevant products for your area.
- Assist in owning risks associated with the delivery of change, ensuring that risks are reduced to an acceptable level to the business via an agreed approach prior to implementing changes.
- Proactively drive personal development, both academic and professional, and to use this to find and establish a path to either a technical specialism or a change professional role.
- Contribute to technical discussions within area of technical expertise when assessing the impact of new initiatives, work requests and the support of existing services.
- Develop an understanding of traditional waterfall development methodologies and new Agile ways of working to support the D&I function on its journey to transform.
- Gain experience and knowledge of the IT Strategy and systems development roadmaps.
- Assist in delivering solutions to agreed standards on time, on budget and to required quality measures.
- Assist in delivering continual improvement initiatives to reduce risk and increase performance, efficiency and productivity.
- Follow relevant standards and procedures and develop knowledge to ensure solutions are in-line with both industry regulation (e.g. GDPR, PCI-DSS) and company best practice.
- Develop into a subject matter expert for a particular knowledge area, process or business area within the D&I team and across Virgin Money.
- Provide support to phases in the delivery lifecycle, resolving faults in a timely manner to cause minimal disruption to agreed planned dates.
- Work closely with business areas and partners to complete development activity within agreed quality standards, processes and timescales.

Training Provided:

As a Digital Technology Apprentice with BPP, you will complete the Digital Technology Solutions Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship you will achieve the BSc (Hons) in Digital and Technology Solutions.

The completion of the qualification will take place in the workplace via an online platform with tutor support.

Qualification Requirements:

- A minimum of 104 UCAS points & GCSE in both Maths and English (Grade C (4) or above) or
- Completion of a level 3 apprenticeship / professional qualification in a relevant discipline or
- A recognised and equivalent qualification (examinations and experience will be considered)

- An ability to analyse information and solve problems
- The ability to write and present information clearly

- Self motivation and the ability to take initiative

Future Prospects:

Virgin Money apprentices are colleagues from day one. They will be part of an additional development programme that will provide them with a number of placements to develop the skills and experience to flourish within Change & Delivery and IT Operations teams.
