Specialist Community Public Health Nurses (SCPHN) in Health visiting (Manchester).

Manchester Local Care Organisation is committed to the professional development of its workforce in order to deliver high quality healthcare to the diverse communities within Manchester. We are offering suitably qualified registered nurse or midwife the opportunity to undertake a programme of study and clinical practice which will lead to a registered Specialist Community Public Health Qualification with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. This is an exciting 12 month apprenticeship programme which gives an opportunity to develop your career in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing with a specialist focus on health visiting.

Manchester is participating in the Start well /1001 critical days' agenda and school readiness initiatives providing optimal health to preschool children.

Main duties of the job

As a health visitor, you can make a significant difference to children families and communities. You will work within highly committed teams and play a crucial role in the delivery of the healthy child programme, promoting child development, safeguarding children, preventing social exclusion and deprivation and tackling public health issues.

Every day is different, running healthy child drop in clinics, visiting babies, children and their families in their homes, managing support groups for parents and working closely with other partnership agencies and professionals.

Post reg experience is essential for this role and evidence of GCSE math's and English must be available at interview stage.

Starting in Sept 2022, you will be given a fixed term apprenticeship contract with MLCO to undertake the one-year full-time SCPHN course with Manchester Metropolitan University. The course consists of 50% academic work and 50% practice in accordance with the university and MLCO guidelines and after qualifying, we will offer a further year's preceptorship period to consolidate your skills. You will complete an individualised learning programme which will be documented in their Personal Portfolio of Learning.
