Full Time Course

Apprenticeship opportunity 52 weeks

Starting on the 14th September 2022

As part of SRFT Division of Salford Health Care, the Children's Services workforce development plan is supporting the initiative to deliver health services in new and innovative ways, and opportunities have now arisen for career progression within the 0-19 Universal Service.

Placement is within the Integrated Care Organisation - Childrens Integrated Community Service of SRFT.

The course timetable will be split between the Salford University, and the clinical placement in Salford, according to the curriculum.

Interviews will take place on the 26th May 2022.

Main duties of the job

  • A Supervisor and Assessor will be allocated to you, who will offer support in achieving the learning outcomes for practice. You will be based with your supervisor at various sites across the city.
  • During this time skills will be developed to enable the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme in a variety of community settings, including schools and the family home environment, whilst working as part of a skill mix team.
  • Please provide 1 academic and 1 professional reference

Person Specification

Qualifications, skills and knowledge

Essential

  • Registered Midwife or Nurse on Part 1 of the NMC register
  • RN Level 1/ RM with relevant post registration experience with experience in Community Nursing
  • Diploma in Nursing studies (120 Academic credits at level 5)
  • Has an understanding of the current & future role of the 0-19 service.
  • Displays a good clinical knowledge which is based on legislation and research evidence to Level 5
  • Shows evidence of development of own skills and knowledge and application to practice, clinical leadership and change management
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills (verbal, non-verbal & written) showing an ability to communicate effectively with clients/patients, carers & MDT
  • To have insight into the role of the School Nurse and 0-19 service in Salford and specialist role in the future


Desirable

  • Preparation of mentors and assessors module, if this is not held there is an expectation that this will be completed following preceptorship
  • To have spent time with one of the 0-19 teams in Salford to have a better understanding of the role
