About the apprenticeship


1 To Undertake front of house duties, including meeting, greet and attending to the needs of guests, to ensure a superb customer service experience.

2 To build a good rapport with all guests and resolve any complaints/issues quickly to maintain high quality customer service.

3 To deal with guest requests to ensure a comfortable and pleasant stay.

4 To assist in dealing with customer complaints in an effective and courteous manner, providing or seeking solutions as quickly as possible.

5 To be responsible for accurate and efficient accounts and guest billing processes.

6 To assist in keeping the hotel reception area clean and tidy at all times.

7 To undertake general office duties, including correspondence, emails, filing and switchboard, to ensure the smooth running of reception area.

8 To administer all routes of reservations to ensure that room booking are made and recorded accurately.

9 To ensure that reservations and cancellations are processed efficiently.

10 To keep up to, date with room prices and special offers to provide accurate information to guests.

11 To report any maintenance, breakage or cleanliness problems to the relevant manager.

12 To administer the general petty cash system and float in an accurate manner.

13 To undertake all training as required (First Aid health and safety customer service).

14 To adhere to all fire safety procedures

15 Other ad hoc duties

Additional information

Due to the nature of the business you will be required to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays and will often be on your feet for long periods

Weekly hours may increase to suit the needs of the business and the wage will increase accordingly

Why an apprenticeship?

Who can apply?

To be eligible to apply you:

  • will be at least 16 years of age at the time of making your application
  • will not be in full-time education (you can apply while still attending school/college/university but will have finished or intend to finish your studies by the time your apprenticeship starts)
  • will need to meet the Civil Service Nationality requirements to apply.

ALS eligibility

Please note that ALS our training providers have their own eligibility in order to provide the funding required to undertake an apprenticeship. You may not be eligible to apply if:

  • you already hold a qualification at Level 3 or above in ICT, Software, Web and Telecoms or a similar subject
  • you already hold a qualification at Level 3 or above in Business Administration, Customer Service or a similar subject

What are the benefits?  

How much will I be paid?

You will earn £19,240 a year while training. When you pass your apprenticeship you can apply for a permanent job at the Welsh Government. Within 2 years of starting your apprenticeship you could be earning £22,500. 

You will get 31 days holidays as well as 10 public and privilege days. We offer flexible working arrangements to help you get the right work/life balance. You will also be eligible for membership of the Civil Service Pension Scheme
