What will the apprentice be doing?

Your typical daily duties will include;
  • Checking a client's financial information, purchase and sales invoices
  • Checking bank balances and bank statements
  • Reviewing client payroll records for accuracy
  • Ensure sound knowledge of a client and its industry by researching background information and useful publications
  • Develop communication skills and build relationships
  • Attend client meetings and social activities
  • Develop and apply technical knowledge gained from studies and on the job experience

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Upon joining the firm your will start your AAT Advanced bookkeeping certificate. This takes roughly 3 months and will give you the foundation knowledge required for you to start your Level 4 Accounting Technician Apprenticeship. You will be studying either incentre or live online with our training providers, BPP, on a mix of day release and block release (dependent on the course). The qualification in total will take you around 18 months. The firm will support you with study leave and materials.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Upon completion of your Level 4 apprenticeship you will be given the option to enrol onto your Level 7 Accounting and Tax Apprenticeship with the ICAEW. This will allow you to become a Chartered Accountant and open up routes to management levels. This can incluce lead client jobs and teaching new trainees joining the firm.

Things to consider

We also provide practical training internally. Immediately on joining us, you receive two weeks of training in accounting, our business language, and in auditing. This lays the foundation for your first year's practical experience.
