An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Pastoral Support worker, to facilitate the development of the Maternity Support Worker Apprenticeship within the Maternity team , on a fixed term basis. This role will provide pastoral support to staff on education programmes, primarily the Maternity Support Worker apprenticeship and required functional skills.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual who possesses a high level of interpersonal skills and who has the expertise and confidence to help shape and deliver pastoral support.
Main duties of the job
The post will involve the pastoral support of staff who are undertaking the Maternity Support Worker apprenticeship and required functional skills. . The successful candidate will be required to work as part of a team but also autonomously managing their own diary.
The post will be based at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital (NSECH). However, there is a requirement to travel to other Trust sites as and when required. Experience of working within a hospital environment would be advantageous.

- To facilitate the implementation of pastoral support for staff employed by the Trust, and facilitate the development of employment support skills in managers and teams.
- To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- Level 4 qualification in an appropriate subject or equivalent portfolio of experience.
Desirable
- Relevant Vocational Qualification for assessment and verification purposes (D32/33; A1; D34 or V1)
- Relevant Teaching Qualification e.g. PTTLS/DTTLS/PGCE/ENB 7318 or equivalent
