What will the apprentice be doing?
  • Actuarial Techniques - actuarial modelling techniques for the pensions industry
  • Processes and Principles - Technical know-how and general awareness of the impact of the various actuarial concepts, models and approaches
  • Technology - A good understanding of how actuarial software, technology and tools can be used to provide answers and solutions to clients
  • Industry regulation - Broad understanding of the structure of the Financial Services market and the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The Actuarial Technician Apprenticeship is an entry level role into the industry which is supported by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. You will obtain a foundation degree equivalent.

Qualifications you will obtain:
Modules 0 (Entry Exam) and 1 (Finance and Financial Mathematics) from the CAA Global Certified Actuarial Analyst qualification
Apprentices will also be required to pass the CAA Global Online Professional Awareness Test

As an apprentice, you will spend 20% of your time working towards achieving your Level 4 Actuarial Technician qualification, this will be attending college once a week (location to be confirmed), the rest of your time will be spent working with your team and gaining the skills you need to build your expertise.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

The actuarial apprentice role will progress the individual on the path to becoming a pensions actuary. To become a qualified actuary, the individual will have to take a series of exams, alongside continuing in an actuarial role.
