What will the apprentice be doing?
You will learn something new every day. As a trusted member of the team you will learn how to support managers to run the site effectively, whilst developing operational, technical and commercial skills in a varied environment of an aggregates quarry, alongside a team of motivated people who will support you. You will gain experience in all activities from drilling and blasting and driving mobile plant machinery to ensuring the site is compliant with critical health and safety procedures.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
During the three year programme you will gain experience and relevant qualifications in all aspects of our business alongside blended learning delivered by The University of Derby, attending the university on site approx six times a year with expenses paid. You will be supported by a mentor, line manager, buddy and entire team. You will 'earn while you learn' by completing a university diploma and mineral products technician Higher Apprenticeship while working on site in your day to day role.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Upon successful completion of your programme you can progress to multiple roles to a supervisory standard. We can offer you clear career pathways, with access to multiple opportunities across our business unit, production or quarry managers, operational managers, to transport and distribution managers, technical or commercial roles. Hanson will also fund an additional two year top up towards a BSc (Hons) in Minerals Management. If this is the right opportunity for you then please apply now

GCSE or equivalent 5 subjects including Maths, English and Science (Grade 4 (C) or above) Essential
A Level or equivalent 2 subjects including a STEM subject (Grade Grades A-C (Grade 80+ UCAS pts) Essential
Other UK Driving Licence (Grade Full or in progess by Sept2022) Essential
Things to consider
Due to the location and nature or our sites and the programme requirements a driver's license is essential. We will accept applicants who are in progress of achieving their license. You must be willing and able to relocate at any stage during the programme to benefit from the opportunities on offer.
