What will the apprentice be doing?

This is a full-time, 18-month apprenticeship contract working within our technology team.
We support flexible working so some of your workdays can be performed from home.

(The role is predominately home-based. However, from time to time, you will be required to meet in a coworking space every few weeks, between Guildford & London - Location TBD).

Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:
  • Supervised design and build of new software components and bug fixes.
  • Participate in our service-desk team - responding to incidents, providing support and confirming defects.
  • Software testing - both manual and automated.
  • DevOps activities including software installs, monitoring, upgrades and configuration.
  • Database reporting and dashboarding.
  • Basic fraud analysis and data-science techniques including customer graph network analysis, clustering analysis and prediction.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Throughout the apprenticeship learners receive coaching, help and guidance from a dedicated team who are there to ensure they get the most from their work experience.

Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Level 4 Software Developer, with training in how to:

Create logical and maintainable codes for software development.
Apply security best practice to the software solution throughout the software development life cycle.
Apply appropriate recovery techniques to ensure the software solution being developed is not lost.
Implement accurate and effective change control.
Undertake unit testing of solutions, with appropriate levels of test code coverage, to identify and resolve issues.
Apply suitable 'bug fixes' based on severity and priority.
