Job summary

Are you looking for a new role in a high performing, and supportive team? Perhaps you are ready for your next challenge? We have a fantastic opportunity to join the Anaesthetics and Surgical Services Division as the Elective recovery and 18 Week RTT Performance Manager.

The role:

The post-holder will be responsible for driving the delivery of RTT performance targets to support the trust in elective recovery. This will involve performance management of key metrics, and supporting the implementation of specialty action plans to improve performance.

In the role you will be required to work in partnership with our Clinical Leads, Operational Business Managers and experienced departmental teams to improve the elective care pathway for our patients and ensure timely treatment. You will have the autonomy to generate ideas in improving services pathways and processes. Reporting to the Deputy Divisional Director of Operations, you will be a key member of the senior management team.

Your working partnerships will be with clinical and non-clinical colleagues and will aim to provide the best possible experience to our patients and their families; whilst at the same time meeting performance standards and targets.

Main duties of the job

  • To be accountable for the early identification of changes to performance that may negatively impact achievement of RTT or DM01 performance
  • To work closely with operational and performance teams to ensure achievement of targets and to ensure high standards of service is provided.
  • To be accountable for monitoring and maintaining performance against key RTT and DM01 atrgets and identify and address barriers to achieving waiting times standards.
  • To write and implement Trust wide policies and procedures to reduce waiting times
  • To be accountable for ensuring analysis takes place of identified breaches of RTT waiting times targets and lessons learned are integrated in to policies and processes
  • To have overall responsibility and accountability for RTT and DM01 Performance
  • To develop and maintain collaborative working between the Trust and the CCG
  • To manage data collection and the dissemination of reports to Lead Clinicians, Senior Managers and Departments and to ensure Trust data submissions are accurate and timely.
  • To represent the Trust externally at meetings and events relating to RTT and Elective care
  • To provide specialist advice and professional leadership, being a source of expert knowledge

What are we looking for from you:

First and foremost we are looking for someone with comprehensive knowledge of elective care and 18 week RTT standards.

We are looking for someone who always puts the patient at the heart of every decision and discussion. These roles require individuals with passion, commitment, excellent communication skills, vision and the desire to drive standards and lead on service improvement.

Proven ability to engage clinical and managerial teams is essential, as is the ability to deliver high performing services within budget, in a cycle of continuous improvement.

The role is:

To manage, lead, and deliver national RTT standards. Leading the on-going work and service development of the elective services operational area using strategic, business and operational skills to ensure the service meets the required performance targets, in line with national requirements, local strategies and objectives.

In particular the RTT Performance Manager will be responsible for supporting directorate / specialty Managers and Clinical Leads in working toward achievement of the national RTT & DM01 Waiting Times standards and other local and national Elective care Initiatives.

The RTT Performance Manager will need to develop good working relationships with other Divisions and branches within the same Division to ensure the relevant levels of service improvement in line with new guidance and national initiatives are implemented and achieved.

The post holder will be responsible for advising the Trust to ensure compliance with the national RTT guidance

To develop and sustain links with key primary specialist, secondary and tertiary care colleagues, to facilitate integrated care pathways and congenial working arrangements.

In particular, to develop the strong relationships with organisations external to the Trust and to represent the trust at local and regional meetings and networks.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Advanced knowledge of RTT waiting Times targets and practice and implications for the service.
  • Understanding of application of current best practice in managing RTT pathways and elective care
  • Proven track record of leading and facilitating change in complex situations with a wide cohort of professionals.


Skills

Essential

  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills
  • Evidence of collaborative working across a wider health/social care economy.


Desirable

  • Experience in managing and analysing complex data
