Job summary

The apprentice will provide effective and efficient Customer Service support to the Working Well team of Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust, whilst completing a Level 2 or Level 3 (dependant on previous experience) Customer Service Practitioner Apprenticeship.

The candidate will support both the Working Well Reception and Administration Team. The role will be working in both areas to provide both face to face customer service and telephone/email customer service.

Working Well is a SEQOHS accredited NHS Occupational Health Service - we help employers and their employees perform at their best by supporting them to proactively manage health at work - because health is everyone's business.

Working Wellpromotes and protects the health and wellbeing of working people. We provide independent advice to both managers and employees on the health of individuals at work, the working environment, health risks associated with the workplace and any occupational implications.

Established over 30 years ago, our service brings together a diverse multidisciplinary team of occupational health practitioners and administrators, appointed based on their qualifications, experience, and potential to excel in the specialty of occupational health.

Main duties of the job

Following supervision and appropriate training, the Working Well apprentice will be expected to efficiently undertake basic customer service, administration and clerical duties:
  • Work closely within the administrative and clinical teams.
  • Communicate in a professional and positive manner with all service users, public and private, managers, client commissioners and new enquiries from organisations.
  • Provide and receive complex or sensitive information using interpersonal and communication skills maintaining confidentiality at all times.

The qualification, training & experience requirements for the role are underlined in the Job Description/Person Specification.

This post requires the post holder to be able to undertake all statutory and mandatory training and post holders must be able to undertake physical interventions. Fitness for physical intervention will be assessed by Occupational Health.

A valid UK driving licence plus the use of own transport for business purposes is essential. For qualifying staff the Trust has a Lease Car Scheme in place and also offers a popular Salary Sacrifice Car Scheme with our partner Tusker.

Person Specification



  • Minimum of 2 GCSE's or equivalent. This MUST include Maths and English grade 4 and above (C and above)



  • Ability to work on own initiative, independently and as part of a team
  • Communication skills: face to face, verbal, in writing and including the use of IT skills with basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and e-mail programmes
  • Interpersonal skills to convey information and work effectively with colleagues, and maintain good working relations with other healthcare staff
