Job summary

DHCFT is looking to recruit a highly motivated and dynamic registered practitioner to lead on the development of Health Care Support Workers for an 18 month fixed term contract.

The post will :
  • lead on the development of a training plan for HCSW's, providing a variety of workshops and support, assisting with recruitment, promoting apprenticeships, writing reports, attending meetings locally and regionally.

The post holder will report to the Workforce Transformation Lead and work with other leads and teams to enhance the quality of the development of staff to contribute positively to career progression and the retention of the workforce.

Main duties of the job

The Health Care Support Worker Development Lead will:
  • Lead, design, implement, deliver and evaluate a development training plan for newly recruited and existing healthcare support workers across a variety of disciplines in the trust to upskill staff to deliver safe and effective care in line with national and local requirements.
  • Provide ongoing support, facilitated learning sessions, clinical supervision, career workshops, educational input, retention conversations, portfolio completion and development for HCSW's.
  • Promote and support the preparation into apprenticeship programs.
  • Contribute to the recruitment of HCSW's including career fairs, interviews, and promotions.
  • Provide regular reports to various project leads and groups as to progress and action plans. Present reports to relevant meetings.
  • This role will include the development and maintenance of a learning environment where both education and lifelong learning are integral to clinical practice.
  • Provide practical support for job application, interview practice, apprenticeship interviews.
  • The role will also include service evaluation as to the impact of support.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion, reflection and ongoing development
  • Provide specialist advice to relevant stakeholders
  • Contribute to the action planning of workforce plans

This role is across all services in the trust and will also support the project plans for the expansion. DHCFT provides a range of mental health services, including older people, inpatient acute, community, forensic, rehabilitation, CAMHS. In addition, we deliver children's health services, learning disability, substance misuse and therapy services. Our HCSW workforce cover nursing, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and peer support.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered professional qualification (i.e. Nurse, AHP)
  • Practice supervisor / assessor / clinical educator / other teaching / assessing qualification
  • Clinical supervisor


Desirable

  • Evidence of additional qualification in teaching / CPD


Skills

Essential

  • Communication & interpersonal skills in a range of media i.e verbal, emails, reports
  • Ability to work under pressure / work to deadlines
  • Leadership of programs and projects
  • Presentation skills


Desirable

  • Flexible working approaches


Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Knowledge of the national and local agenda for HCSW
  • Apprenticeship programs for HCSW
  • Teaching & facilitation sessions for groups of people
