Chemical Science Degree Apprentice (Materials Quality Control)

Alongside your studies, you'll be working as part of the Materials Quality Control Team, conducting precise and accurate routine analytical testing on Incoming Raw Materials, In-Process Control samples and Final Product material, involving both the use of traditional chemistry techniques and the use of a wide variety of analytical instrumentation (for example XRF, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, IC, Particle Size, Surface Area and Porosity instruments). Your duties will also include, although not be limited to:

• Maintaining a high standard of laboratory operating conditions regarding equipment, validity of calibration standards, housekeeping, analytical records, etc. by adhering to established standards
• Ensuring compliance with all health, safety and environment policies

Desired skills

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
• Ability to read and understand laboratory related materials, with laboratory-based skills such as precise weighing and pipetting
• Strong mathematical skills and familiarity with algebra to perform relevant analytical calculations
• Strong attention to detail

• Professional interpersonal skills, and a team player with a committed, flexible and positive approach to work

Desired qualifications

• A minimum of 104 UCAS points at A-level or equivalent (grades BCC or similar), with A levels including Chemistry and Mathematics
• GCSE Mathematics and English Language (grade A*-C / 9-4) or equivalent
