Job summary

We are looking for pharmacists with previous hospital experience and the necessary skills to work in one of the largest teaching hospital trusts in the UK. You will form an integral part of the pharmacy team and wider multi-disciplinary team (MDT), playing an essential role in optimising patient care and medicines use. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential. As is the ability to work as an active team member as well as on your own initiative. You must be motivated to provide high quality care and committed to service improvement and development to ensure patients' needs are met.

We promote the development of our pharmacists in areas such as completing the prescribing qualification and use of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Advanced Practice Framework to inform an individual's personal development plan.

We welcome applications from GPhC registered pharmacists with a clinical diploma and those who have completed their first year of the diploma.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to recruit to two rotational band 7 positions who will rotate throughout the full range of specialties at WTWA, starting with infection

The initial placement for these posts include an exciting opportunity to work with the Antimicrobial Stewardship Pharmacy Team to develop and deliver the Trust's innovative, patient-centered antimicrobial stewardship agenda. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with the Infectious Diseases Team at Wythenshawe Hospital and deepen your knowledge and skills managing a wide range of infections.

You will be required to support the clinical service at Wythenshawe and provide clinical advice to the Greater Manchester COVID Medicines Delivery Unit on a sessional basis, including weekends.

Education/Qualifications

Essential

  • Vocational 4 year masters degree
  • 1 year pre registration training and experience
  • Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Post-graduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent documented clinical experience


Desirable

  • Certificate in Independent Prescribing


Experience

Essential

  • 2 years post registration hospital experience or equivalent documented clinical experience
  • Experience in delivering pharmaceutical care
  • Experience in training and supervising others
  • Audit / research experience
