The role will include:
  • Joining our key function within the Quality team
  • Working towards professional qualifications in Engineering
  • Gain a diverse range of skills, knowledge and experience through formal instruction and "on the job" training
  • Support the delivery of ITM products and services
  • Progress to a highly skilled Quality Engineer

Principle role & responsibilities:
  • Maintain a log of all concerns, and ensure it is up to date with owners
  • Validate corrective action / 8D reports
  • Track and report on corrective action status - providing clear status on open/closed NC status & corrective action status Liaise with non-conformance owners - to coach and guide to conclusion
  • Visit suppliers to understand issues, feedback to ITM where necessary to ensure that the suppliers voice is heard within ITM Manage supplier rating system, resolving issues where necessary
  • Validate supplier processes using SPC
  • Modify business processes where they can be made better or more robust (REFER TO FULL JOB SPEC, DAN SWIFT)

Desired qualifications

Higher Apprenticeship entry requirements

For the Engineering Manufacturing Technician apprenticeship:

Applicants must already be employed in a suitable engineering role or have relevant engineering experience.

In addition, you will need one of the following:
  • A minimum of two A-Levels at grade C/4 or above (or equivalent), including a mathematical based subject and a science, technology, engineering or an additional mathematics-related subject
  • An Engineering BTEC Level 3 with at least 120 credits at MM (merit merit) level(or equivalent)
  • An EAL Diploma in an Engineering-based subject at merit or above(or equivalent)

Applicants are also required to undertake a series of assessments at the AMRC Training Centre before being offered a place on an apprenticeship.

Future prospects

Completion of this apprenticeship is just the start of your career and can open the door to many more opportunities, such as Engineering Management and Project Engineering positions across a range of sectors.

Things to consider

During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study.

One Friday per month you will return to your workplace.

After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study.

The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.
