Unicarriers have an exciting opportunity available for an Apprentice Forklift Truck Engineer to join their team in Aylesford. Working on a full time basis the successful candidate will earn GBP11,000 per annum rising at 6 monthly intervals to GBP28,000+ once qualified.

UniCarriers UK is a leading supplier of premium quality materials handling equipment (fork lift trucks) to both the manufacturing and distribution sector. The UK division is the largest of the UniCarriers Europe subsidiaries, with European headquarters and factory based in Gothenburg, Sweden and Global HQ in Japan - ultimately part of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.

As a UniCarriers' apprentice you will be supported in the business and work alongside an experienced engineer, to maintain and repair the customer's forklift truck equipment.

As an Apprentice Forklift Truck Engineer you will work towards achieving a nationally recognised qualification in Lift Truck Maintenance and Repair Level 2 and 3. This is a 4 year programme with the opportunity for a permanent role at the end of the apprenticeship or possible opportunities for level 4 and beyond qualifications.

The Apprentice Forklift Truck Engineer role will include:

- Carrying out regular servicing on customer forklift truck equipment ensuring unscheduled repairs are minimised.

- Attend breakdowns, diagnose faults and repairing vehicles in a time and cost-effective manner.

- Keeping up to date records and completion of documents to company standards.

- Liaise with the Parts Department to ensure appropriate stock levels are held.

- Developing and maintaining client relationships ensuring the highest levels of customer service is achieved.

- Carrying out basic housekeeping duties.

- Working productively within the UniCarriers' team to deliver result

As our Apprentice Forklift Truck Engineer you will need to be:

- Practical, hands on and with a genuine interest in mechanics.

- Keen interest in mechanical engineering

- Good attitude and interest in the field

- Ideally you will have Grade's C in English and Maths or equivalent (desirable)

The training aspect is managed by F-Tec Limited (Forklift Engineering Training Centre), this will comprise of 'on the job' and 'off the job' training. The off the job training will be held at a training centre which you will attend 5 weeks per year, staying overnight from Sunday to Friday. Whilst staying away all your travel, accommodation and food expenses will be paid by UniCarriers. The off the job training will also involve an F-Tec Assessor visiting your workplace to observe you carrying out a range of jobs. As well as this you will be required to complete a number of assignments in your own time and collect your own evidence towards your portfolio
