What will the apprentice be doing?
Training provided to undertake Civil & Structural Engineering duties including design, drawings and providing technical support services.
Gain experience and training in the use of a wide range of technical software and CAD
Production of CAD drawings and developing design skills
Carry out simple calculations
Work as an integrated member of the team to delivery projects
Be exposed to both office working and the site environment
On the job mentoring and exposure to a broad range projects
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Undertake a 5 year part time, 1 day a week, accredated degree course to obtain a BEng Honours in Civil Engineer
The degree will be undertaken at the University of the West of England, Frenchay Campus, Bristol
The candidate will undertake training equivalent to 20% of there time throughout the year. Therefore 1 days a week at UWE or on another appropriate training and development course / studies outside of term time. This is in addition to on the job training
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
On completion of the degree and end point assessment this leads to Incorporated Membership of the Institute of Civil or Structural Engineers, or both, depending on the career preference.
Thereafter developement to Chartered membership would be encouraged
Progression within the practice would be expected to Design Engineer, Senior Engineer and beyond

Qualifications
A Level or equivalent Maths (Grade C or 4 and above) Essential
