Job summary

Towcester Veterinary Centre started in 1905. Then, it was a one vet farm practice. Today, the small animal veterinary practice in Burcote Road, Towcester has six vets. Our client's large animal veterinary practice, which also operates from Burcote Road, has three vets. Their equine hospital at Plum Park, Paulerspury, Northamptonshire, has six vets. Both sites are supported with a full team of nurses and other support staff.

This is a fabulous opportunity for someone who has a genuine love and interest for animals, especially horses. The apprentice is to carry out clerical duties including reception and building relationships with customers by being the front face of the practice.

Our client is looking for a bubbly and outgoing individual who isn’t afraid to pick up the phone to join their experienced team. Our client has promised that the successful candidate will be supported by the senior office members who each have a wealth of experience to back them up.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Working on a busy reception which handles lots of calls, the candidate must have appropriate sensitivity with all callers
  • Commitment to providing quality service which will be a priority, whether customers are internal or external
  • Booking appointments for clients
  • Booking appointments for vets in certain area zones on certain days
  • Organising and running a diary
  • Answering incoming calls
  • Booking bloods and sending samples
  • Basic accounts
  • Taking payments over the phone and counter
  • Taking part in a cleaning rota and taking pride in the practice
  • Ensuring the environment is kept clean and tidy at all times is everyone's responsibility
  • Working through and checking insurance claims which require meticulous attention to detail

This is a fantastic opportunity to further your customer service skills and learn from a highly-experienced team. You will also be working towards a widely-recognised level 2 in Customer Service with the potential opportunity to progress onto the Level 3 Programme after successful completion of the Level 2.

Working week

  • Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week, between 8.00am - 6.30pm (1 hour lunch break)

Qualifications

  • If you do not have Maths and English GCSE grades A*-C (or equivalent) we will support you to achieve Functional Skills in those subjects. 

Future Prospects

  • If hard work is shown throughout the Apprenticeship there is the possibility for a full time position in the company, the company are keen for the Apprentice to stay in the company and grow.

Training to be provided

  • Level 2 in Customer Service with the opportunity to move onto the Level 3 Programme
  • Functional Skills in maths and English if required
