What will the apprentice be doing?

SMBC's 24-month practical training programme comprises of an initial orientation to SMBC and the Financial Services Industry, formal learning and development in partnership with The London Institute of Banking & Finance and three 8-month rotations to support you in building a holistic understanding of our front office divisions.

You will undertake the following rotations:

The 3 Rotations:

Risk / Credit - 8 months.

· Maintainingthe Risk function's information and database;

· Supporting application flow and processing of transactions

· Risk assessment of new asset finance transactions

· Management of a portfolio of asset credits including problem assets

· Working as a trusted partner and challenger with Front Office deal teams

Coverage Rotation - 8 months

· Conduct 'Know Your Customer' research and review

· Support marketing

· Prepare management information reports (eg Maturing facilities, overdue grading, KYC, Bridge Facility Reporting)

· Monitor Month-end uncommitted facilities to ensure renewed on time

Capital Products Rotation - 8 months

· Sourcing and compiling information and documentation from third party sources

· Reconciling and certifying cash flow or financial information, producing routing reports

· Liaising with clients and third parties

· Assisting in the performance of asset manager due diligence

You'll be an active and valued team member from day one and will be challenged and supported equally.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

SMBC has partnered with the London Institute of Banking and Finance (LIBF) to deliver a best-in-class learning and training programme which will be delivered through the Level 6 Financial Services Professional apprenticeship.

You will also attain the Chartered Associate of The London Institute of Banking & Finance, an industrywide acknowledged professional designation.

You will learn through in person and online classes, webinars, industry leading speakers and your peers; and demonstrate your learning through assessments, on the job performance and project work.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Once you've completed the programme, subject to a standard performance review, you will transition into a Front Office role focused on your strengths and career aspirations.

Other Level 4 Qualification Achieved - 2020 or later (Grade Pass) Essential
