This opportunity is via a 12 month training positions for the role of Student Specialist Community Public Health Nurse - School Nurse. This post is delivered as an apprenticeship and supported through the apprenticeship levy. Academic studies will be at Manchester Metropolitan University.

The primary aim is to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities for our Bolton children, young people and families .

Undertaking this training will enable you to gain valuable experience supporting children, young people within their families, communities and settings; including the mandate of early intervention and safeguarding.

Your learning will be facilitated within our integrated 0-19 service including the 9 Neighbourhood teams that cover the geographical locations within Bolton.

You will be allocated a Practice Assessor and Practice Supervisor within practice to support you with completing the competencies for specialist practice.

This vacancy is only available for applicants who already hold a current nursing or midwifery qualification with current NMC registration.

As a result of successful completion of the course, registration on to Part 3 of the NMC register will be undertaken and eligibility to apply for the role of School Nurse.

School Nursing service is focused on improving outcomes for children, young people and their families. School nurses in Bolton work in 0-19 integrated public health nursing teams.

The skills and competencies acquired will provide you with the clinical expertise required as a school Nurse. This will include developing capacity to undertake holistic , comprehensive assessments of health needs of children, young people and families.

Opportunities for gaining knowledge and proficiency within higher communication and leadership skills will be acquired.

Our school nurse and public health nurses teams work closely with our healthy families team, adolescent service, children's community health services and partner agencies to ensure collaborative approaches to care delivery.

This post will allow you to develop pivotal skills required for the school nurse role. The safety and protection of children and young people is paramount for the school nurse.

Job responsibilities

Your contract will be a fixed term one year full time contract to undertake the BSc/Specialist Community Public Health Nursing-School Nursing

Bolton NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to offer training for the role of Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (school nurse) to start full time in September 2022. This is a 52 week programme and you will gain practice experience working in an integrated 0-19/25 neighbourhood team, in addition to your academic study with the Manchester Metropolitan University. You will be supported in practice by a practice supervisor and practice assessor.This vacancy is only available for applicants who already hold a current nursing or midwifery qualification with NMC registration.
