What will the apprentice be doing?

The applicant will be expected to work towards developing skills in the following areas:
  • Working with the engineering team to produce CAD models, drawings and bills of materials from specifications, brainstorming meetings, sketches, data sheets as well as written and verbal instructions.
  • Taking responsibility for creation and maintenance of parts, assemblies, bills of materials and parts lists.
  • Working closely with all departments to ensure that the drawings convey the correct infornation and are error free.
  • Utilising the CAD system resources to efficiently carry out the above mentioned tasks.
  • Supporting project management team to ensure the correct flow of information from engineering to construction in a timely manner.
  • Gain practical understanding of fabrication and assembly techniques, with the opportunity to work directly with the construction team.
  • Support the design team by producing design calculations for on site support work.
  • Following company procedures and best working practices during day-to-day work activities.
  • Performing additional related duties as requested or required.

  • Successful completion of this programme includes the award Level 6 Manufacturing Engineer.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
  • The apprentice will gain experience and progress within our Drawing Office.
  • Potential to progress to Structural Engineer working across a number of fabrication projects and sectors.
