Bouygues Energies and Services is a global contractor and currently has an exciting opportunity within our Transport & Local Government division for Highways Electrical Apprentice. The role will be based around North London where the post hold will be involved on a variety of LED street lighting projects.

The Role:

* The apprentice will support the Highway Electrical team in the installation, servicing, repair and maintenance of highway structures, systems and equipment, including:

* Excavating and installing streetlight posts in the ground

* Installing traffic signals

* Installing safety camera poles

* Fitting street lighting lanterns or traffic signal heads

* Carrying out first line fault finding when items are reported as not working

* Carrying out first line emergency attendance and emergency works (e.g. after a road traffic incident where a vehicle hits a streetlight ensuring the site is safe for traffic and pedestrians)

* Working efficiently, effectively and safely to keep costs within budget, and to ensure that deadlines are met for the completion of projects and tasks

* To maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, managers and members of the public whilst carrying out all works

* To have an ongoing awareness of Health and Safety and follow procedures to ensure a safe working environment

* Alongside work the apprentice will study for qualifications in Highway Electrical Systems. The apprentice must be able to manage their time to complete assignments to set deadlines and to a high level of quality. Please note, apprentices will study on block release for 4 weeks per year. They must be prepared to stay away from home Monday-Friday during training blocks.

The person:

* Due to the potential for night working and a 45 hour working week, applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age on 1st November 2018

* 5 x GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades A-C/9-4, including English and maths plus an interest in construction or the built environment

* Previous experience working in a team (either from work, education or hobbies)

* Good communication skills and the confidence to speak to staff at all levels of the organisation

* Flexibility to travel to different sites/contracts as may be required
